Best Laid Plans

January 27, 2021 kchawaiiLeave a comment

I had big crochet plans for December but unfortunately I did not accomplish much last month... I lost my mojo early in December and took a long break from crocheting. Usually I take a break for a week or two and then I'm refreshed and ready to go, but this time, it turned into a… Continue reading Best Laid Plans

More CALs and Advent Calendar freebies!

December 4, 2020 kchawaiiLeave a comment

As I try my best to keep up with the CALs that I listed in my "So many CALs, so little time" post (and not doing a very good job at it, lol), I've discovered additional Christmas CALs and other advent calendar events this week. I wish I could just take off the whole holiday… Continue reading More CALs and Advent Calendar freebies!

Black Friday sales!

November 27, 2020November 27, 2020 kchawaiiLeave a comment

There are a lot of great sales for craft supplies going on right now on Amazon, JoAnn, Michaels, and other big box stores. I blame that partly on FOMO, but the patterns are so cute and reasonable (sometimes even free!) so I just can't help myself.… Continue reading So many CALs, so little time

Yarn over vs. yarn under

November 17, 2020November 17, 2020 kchawaiiLeave a comment

I was a bit surprised to discover earlier this year that there are different techniques to the simple single crochet stitch when I was researching how to crochet tighter stitches to minimize gaps. I tend to crochet on the tight side most of the time, but I sometimes find that there are small gaps in… Continue reading Yarn over vs. yarn under

Resizing amigurumi is not an exact science

November 13, 2020November 13, 2020 kchawaiiLeave a comment

Sometimes it is necessary to resize your amigurumi project, especially if it is a custom make and you cannot find a pattern that is close to the finished size that's requested. If the size needs to be adjusted slightly, then it may be possible to do that by changing the yarn weight (i.e., using worsted… Continue reading Resizing amigurumi is not an exact science

Hope everyone is having a safe and fun Halloween! My favorite game over the past few years has been Don't Starve Together (I know, this isn't a blog about games but it does have a crafty tie-in) and Klei, the developer of the game, is giving away free in-game skins for anyone who submits… Continue reading Happy Halloween
